Abstract:
Guar, a plant belongs to the leguminous family It has bean planted since ancient times in both India and Pakistan, It`s most important economic value lies in the gum which is obtained from the seeds, This substance is used in different industries such as paper and texile industries as a strengthing humidity resistance effect. It is also used to thickan and stabilize prccessed chees, icecream… etc… It is used as a filtar in mining industry and as a thickener in cosmetics industry . The second use of this crop is as forage grows in summer season. The uneven distribution of forage crops among agricultural seasons is in favour of bersean which accupies more than 90% of the forages and the possibility of introducing crops to cccupy the summer season arose . But there is no place in yhe cropping map in Egypt for a summer forage crop because the cultivated area is already accupied by more important field crop and it is not possible to replace any of them. Guar may be introduced as a summer forage crop to be grown in the newly recisimed land which is mainly sandy soil since it tolerates more unfavourable conditions. Moreover, the passiility to produce seeds for the industrial purpose along with forage production. The Objective Of This Investigation is to study possibilities of growing guar for forage and seeds under different planting densities as well as varying phosphorus levels.
