Abstract:
Egypt has sought to achieve rapid economic growth and sustainable development; however, this approach has been accompanied by critical economic and environmental challenges, reflecting unsustainable growth. In response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Egypt began its Sustainable Development Strategy in Vision 2030. The Bokashi process was done for wilted guava fruit and cabbage leaves under three formulations of Bokashi bran prepared by applying 15, 20, and 30 mL of Effective Microorganisms culture. This research focuses on producing high-quality Bokashi compost from organic waste as a sustainable approach for its valorization. This system is integrated with IoT technology to enable real-time remote monitoring of main parameters, including moisture content, temperature, and Electrical conductivity. The research was done in two phases first phase was the Bokashi process for wilted guava fruit and cabbage leaves, which continued for 16 days under three formulations of Bokashi bran prepared by applying 15, 20, and 30 mL of Effective Microorganisms culture. The second phase involved the incorporation of the bokashi pre-compost into soil for 25 days to estimate the overall effectiveness of the composting process. The results showed that applying 30 mL of Effective Microorganisms, was the optimal inoculant dose for bokashi composting, outperforming 20 and 10 mL in reach approving C/N ratio and speeding organic matter decomposition. Bokashi composting appears as an effective strategy for organic waste valorization and reduction, producing high-quality compost with minimal linked environmental impacts compared with traditional composting methods.
