Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of using a suggested program based on the PSQ5R Strategy in developing reading as a study skill for English texts and reading awareness for post-graduate students at the faculty of education.The subjects of this study included ( 27 ) special diploma students in The Faculty of Education, Zagazig University who majored in English.The hypotheses of the study are:1-There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group on the pre-reading test results and that of the post test results in favour of the post test.2- There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group on the pre administration of the reading awareness inventory and that of the post one in favour of the post administration.3- There is a positive relation between the development of the experimental group reading as a study skill and their reading awareness on the post administration.The following procedures were conducted in this study:1- Reviewing the previous literature related to the study variables: The PSQ5R Strategy, reading as a study skill and reading awareness. 2- Choosing the sample which is the experimental group that will be taught by the PSQ5R Strategy.3- Designing a reading test, which involves the reading study skills included in the PSQ5R strategy, and judging it.4-Designing a reading awareness inventory and judging it.
