Abstract:
Research Problem: Through her participation in teaching students at the Faculty of Specific Education, Department of Art Education, Zagazig University, the researcher observed that they possess artistic skills and abilities, producing ceramic works of high aesthetic value, both technically and structurally. However, they need to revive the heritage in ceramic compositions, imbuing them with a spirit of authenticity through a new, contemporary vision. With the emergence of modern artistic trends and the changing expressive concept of modern ceramic form, the problem is defined as follows: - How can new compositional solutions be achieved in constructing and formulating ceramic Arabic letters? - To what extent can the artistic and expressive formulations and treatments of Arabic letters be utilized as a source for contemporary ceramic themes? Research Objectives: - To utilize Arabic letters in constructing new, contemporary ceramic compositional solutions and formulations. - To establish the concept of authenticity and modernity in creating ceramic forms treated with Arabic letters (based on constructivism). Research Significance: - This research contributes to exploring a key aspect of creating ceramic forms based on Arabic calligraphy. - Utilizing the solutions and artistic treatments of Arabic letters to enrich the creative aspects of contemporary ceramic art. - Examining Arabic letters to deepen the artistic vision of heritage and introduce new themes in ceramic production. - Studying the most important technical and artistic methods that can be applied to ceramic forms. - Guiding students of the Faculty of Specific Education towards the sources of heritage vision to produce ceramic works characterized by authenticity and modernity. Research Hypotheses: - The study of Arabic letters can be used to develop contemporary ceramic artistic treatments. - Students can be taught how to produce ceramics by linking the aesthetics of construction and form with surface treatment methods (constructivism). Research Scope: This research is limited to: - Examining Arabic letters in modern and contemporary ceramic works. - Identifying the shaping methods used in accordance with the technique, material, and ceramic form. - Using Arabic letters as an artistic and technical formulation for treating the surfaces of ceramic forms. - This research is conducted with fourth-year students in the Art Education Department, Faculty of Specific Education, Zagazig University. Research Methodology: The researcher employs a descriptive, analytical, and experimental approach through the following: • Presenting a selection of ceramic designs and forms using modern and contemporary Arabic calligraphy. • Conducting a practical experiment with fourth-year students in the Art Education Department, Faculty of Specific Education, Zagazig University. Results and Recommendations: First, Results: - Expanding students' sources of awareness and inspiration regarding aesthetic and technical values. - Reinforcing the concept of authenticity and modernity in ceramic products that incorporate Arabic calligraphy, and treating them as aesthetically pleasing products with expressive value. - Utilizing the aesthetic influences of Arabic calligraphy to inspire diverse expressive, structural, and experimental values in ceramics. - Enriching students' creative abilities, such as thinking, imagination, expression, and understanding of modern art thought and philosophy. - Contributing to training and deepening students' understanding of heritage culture and the potential for innovation in modern ceramic products. Secondly, Recommendations: The researcher recommends: - In-depth study of Arabic script and letters as a significant source for developing the concept of modern ceramic products, in terms of form, content, shape, and appearance, to enrich aesthetic and technical values when creating new forms, rather than simply copying others. - The importance of focusing on sources and approaches to experimentation in ceramics for teaching students at the Faculty of Specific Education, and the direct connection to the artistic vision of heritage and the ease of generating ideas. - Ensuring the suitability of technical treatments and the formal requirements of ceramic forms, so that these forms fulfill their aesthetic and functional roles.
