Abstract:
Extract Introduction The implementation of available European Society of Cardiology guidelines for the use of cardiac imaging in Chronic Coronary Syndromes (CCS)1 was found to be suboptimal in the EURECA registry.2 In this population, we aimed at assessing how patients’ characteristics and coronary disease phenotypes, based on imaging tests’ results, were associated with different treatment strategies. We also explored the prognostic impact of baseline clinical and imaging characteristics, and of different treatment choices at short-term follow-up. Methods The study design has been previously reported.2 The inclusion criteria were the presence of stable symptoms (including angina, other chest discomfort or dyspnoea) in patients without or with known coronary artery disease (CAD), referred for elective diagnostic evaluation.1,2 Of the 5156 patients enrolled, 4175 (81.0%, mean age 63.5 ± 11.3 years, 39.9% females) with information on early treatment strategies (within 90 days from the completion of the diagnostic process) and 6-month follow-up were included. Patient management followed local clinical practice. Medical therapy received at enrolment and therapy changes within 90-days from enrolment were recorded.
