| Abstract: |
Egyptian agricultural exports have recently achieved great success, which confirms the reputation of Egyptian agricultural crops. The total number of foreign markets to which Egyptian agricultural exports are accessed has reached 160 markets, with 6.5 million tons that Egypt exported abroad during the last season, which represents an unprecedented boom in the history of Egyptian agricultural exports. The main objective was to shed light on the performance indicators and features of the development of Egyptian agricultural exports during the period (2001-2021) by studying the development of the most important Egyptian agricultural export groups, and studying the development of the export structure of the most important agricultural crops of Egyptian vegetables and fruits, based on published and unpublished data. One of the most important results of the study, the vegetable exports group comes in the lead with an average export value of about $699.3 million, representing about 22.06% of the total value of Egyptian agricultural exports, followed by the fruit group with an average export value of about $545.9 million, representing about 17.22% of the total value of Egyptian agricultural exports. Then the fiber group, which includes exports of both cotton and flax, with an average export value of about $230.5 million, representing about 7.27% of the total value of Egyptian agricultural exports. It also became clear that the list of Egyptian agricultural exports during the period (2001-2022) includes a number of commodities and products amounting to 503 commodities, concentrated in fourteen commodity groups. Potatoes came first, followed by onion exports, then strawberry exports, while the most important fruit exports were oranges and grapes, as these crops represented the most important agricultural exports during the same period. It was also found that about 81.9% of the average quantity of Egyptian potato exports is concentrated in 14 countries, but about 62.6% of this quantity is directed to only five markets: the Russian Federation, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Italy, and Lebanon. About 80.3% of the average quantity of Egyptian exports of onions are concentrated in 11 countries, but about 65.5% of this quantity is directed to only five markets, which are Saudi Arabia, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany.
