| Abstract: |
The research aims to design a cognitive scale to measure squash players' level of achievement in cognitive aspects and to establish standard levels to be used in determining their level of knowledge in squash.
The research community represents squash players under (17) years of age from the Cairo region, numbering (9) clubs, and the number of players registered with the Egyptian Squash Federation for the 2021/2022 training year (420). The researcher intentionally selected the research sample from squash players from Wadi Degla Sporting Club, Al-Ahly Club, Al-Zohour Club, Madinaty Club, Black Bull Club, Heliopolis Club, and Al-Shams Club. The sample size was (260) players, divided into (200) players as a primary sample and (60) players as a exploratory sample. The final version of the scale included (10) axes distributed over (77) statements, including (47) true/false statements, (30) multiple-choice statements, (53) statements representing the level of knowledge, (18) statements representing the level of understanding, and (6) statements representing the level of application.
The cognitive scale can be relied upon after the easiness, difficulty, and discrimination coefficients, as well as the validity and reliability coefficients, were extracted. The reliability coefficient reached (0.986). The designed cognitive scale differentiates between excellent and weak squash players in cognitive aspects. Standard levels were established for the cognitive scale, through which the level of players in different clubs can be identified in light of the results obtained by the researcher.
The researcher recommends the following:
1. Use the designed cognitive scale periodically to evaluate players, in addition to physical and skill tests.
2. Use the standard levels of the designed cognitive scale to identify the level of cognitive achievement among players.
3- Developing cognitive standards in general, and particularly in the area of the law, and applying them periodically to players to determine their understanding of the new amendments to the text of the law
