According to numerous earlier works, the anatomy of the male and female genitalia is crucial for classifying beetles. In the current work, optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the male and female genitalia of Neocleonus maculipes (Gyllenhal, 1834) [Curculionidae: Lixinae: Cleonini] for the first time from Egypt as far as we are aware. A thorough explanation to the genitalia is given. Diagnosis to the genus and species were provided. In addition, an illustrated key to differentiate between the genus Neocleonus Chevrolat, 1872 and its closely related genus Ammocleonus Bedel, 1907 was included.
