This study explores how the field of hand weaving can be enriched through the synthesis of threads and artistic media to create spatial depth in textile artworks. Synthesis is defined as the process of merging and unifying diverse elements and materials into a single artwork characterized by both aesthetic and functional harmony, aiming to embody the artist’s creative vision. Hand weaving is no longer confined to traditional practices; rather, it has become a means of expression carrying intellectual and aesthetic dimensions, employing a wide range of materials and techniques. Synthesis, in this context, extends beyond aesthetics to embrace philosophical and intellectual dimensions that are reflected in the diverse technical and formal approaches employed by the researcher. The study focuses on the impact of synthesis in enhancing formal values within textile artworks, with particular emphasis on the concept of space. Considered a modern concept, space introduces a third dimension into textile works. No longer treated as a void, space becomes an active element that adds lightness, enhances depth, and grants the visual composition greater realism and spatial extension.
This orientation has significantly influenced the evolution of textile artworks, especially since the early twenty-first century, when artists began adopting the notions of spatiality and material experimentation as foundations for constructing contemporary works that transcend traditional forms. As a result, innovative textile pieces have emerged that utilize synthesis as a formative tool to achieve integration between idea and content.
The study further highlights the importance of employing diverse threads and media that vary in color, texture, and form, as such multiplicity enriches the aesthetic value and amplifies the visual impact of the artwork. Nevertheless, the research emphasizes that this diversity must remain cohesive and serve the unity of the artwork, thereby generating a holistic vision that embodies both aesthetic refinement and intellectual depth.
