This research focuses on two aspects. The first is to assist decision-makers at Zagazig University and the Central Administration for International Students Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education in taking appropriate decisions and developing strategies that contribute to increasing the number of international students at Zagazig University in the coming years. It also aims to explore and find ways to attract new nationalities by designing a set of digital maps that will support decision-making and geographical analysis of international students at the university. The second is to help international students of all nationalities by providing a range of interactive maps supported in both Arabic and English, suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate students. These maps will display the most important services in Zagazig, including health, entertainment, cultural, banking, and religious services. They will also identify the residential blocks available for rent and those suitable for international students. Moreover, there will be other interactive maps of the university, showcasing its various elements and components such as faculties, institutes, higher administrations, and services, along with displaying the programs offered by faculties for both undergraduate and postgraduate education. The study concluded that the period from 2019 to 2024 witnessed a gradual increase in the number of international students. During this period, the university took it upon itself to provide numerous facilities and incentives, until the number of the international students reached 7,149 in 2024, representing 3.8% of the university’s total student body and 5.7% of the total number of international students enrolled in Egyptian universities, with an increase of 273.3% over the past five years. Furthermore, the international students from Palestine and Sudan together represent 43.7% of the total number of international students at the university and constitute 19.6% of the all Palestinian and Sudanese students across Egyptian universities. Zagazig University ranks fourth in terms of the number of international students, following Cairo University, Mansoura University, and Ain-Shams University. The survey conducted on 10.5% of the university’s international students revealed that 91% of the students were satisfied with the interactive maps presented in this study as they provide undergraduate and postgraduate students with the necessary data about the programs offered by the faculties. International students’ satisfaction rate with the interactive maps of city services stood at 67% since they only identify the geographical locations of educational, health, entertainment, banking, and religious services close to the university, and do not cover the total area of Zagazig. The study recommends the necessity of continuously updating the interactive maps, including the incorporation of official regulations and data, in addition to updating the layer of diverse services needed by international students and their families, which will contribute to attracting larger numbers of international students.
