Comparative Evaluation of Arthroscopically Assisted Coracoclavicular Fixation Versus Hook Plate Fixation for Unstable Distal Clavicle Fractures: A Minimum 2-Year Follow-up Study.

Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of hook plate (HP) versus arthroscopically assisted coracoclavicular (AAC) fixation in unstable distal clavicle fractures. A total of 34 patients were included, with 17 in each fixation group. The results indicated no significant differences in Constant and ASES scores between the two methods. However, the AAC group demonstrated superior shoulder forward flexion (168.2° vs. 161.9°) and a lower complication rate (5.8% vs. 41.1%). Additionally, patients in the AAC group returned to work more quickly (11.2 weeks vs. 17.05 weeks). The findings suggest that AAC fixation is more effective in reducing complications and facilitating faster recovery compared to HP fixation. Overall, AAC fixation may be the preferred method for treating unstable distal clavicle fractures.
