Abstract:
Ramp lesions, commonly linked to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, present a challenge in management due to the absence of a clear treatment consensus. Current literature suggests that stable ramp lesions may benefit from nonsurgical management, leveraging the body's natural healing capabilities. Conversely, larger or unstable ramp lesions typically necessitate surgical intervention to restore knee stability. Various surgical techniques, including inside-out, outside-in, and all-inside methods, are employed based on lesion characteristics. Postoperative rehabilitation protocols remain inconsistent, yet they generally align with established ACL rehabilitation practices. Emphasis is placed on minimizing knee flexion and rotation during the initial recovery phase. Further research is needed to establish standardized treatment guidelines and rehabilitation protocols for ramp lesions. The evolving understanding of ramp lesion management highlights the importance of individualized treatment approaches. Collaboration among orthopedic specialists is essential for optimizing patient outcomes.
