Abstract:
This prospective study evaluated 30 patients with tibial plateau fractures treated using arthroscopically assisted reduction and internal fixation. The technique allows for precise fracture reduction and the management of associated soft tissue injuries in a single procedure. Results showed that 63.3% of patients had excellent outcomes, 33.3% good, and 3.3% fair, with no poor results. The use of arthroscopy provides better visualization of intra-articular structures and aids in accurate reduction. It minimizes soft tissue dissection, reducing complications like wound healing issues and arthritis. Many studies support satisfactory short- to medium-term functional outcomes with this approach. Compared to traditional open surgery, arthroscopy offers less invasiveness and improved diagnosis of intra-articular lesions. However, it carries a risk of compartment syndrome if not carefully managed. Overall, arthroscopic fixation is a safe and effective method for tibial plateau fractures. The study concludes that this approach yields satisfactory results and facilitates comprehensive injury management.
