With the rapid technological development in the world of communications, the steady development in financial transactions has also witnessed a new development represented in the emergence of new types of money, and the goal behind them was to facilitate operations and reduce the loss of time, effort and money, and as a result of that the so-called digital or encrypted currencies appeared. Digital currencies have given a new look to financial transactions that do not need the presence of monetary inter mediation institutions as well as without supervision by central banks. Digital currencies have succeeded in imposing themselves in the global financial market, and despite their successive risks, that still dominate the minds of many in the field of money trading and stock exchanges. Through this research, we explain the definition of digital currencies, their emergence and development, the reasons for their spread, the reality of dealing with them, an image of international recognition, as well as the risks of using digital currencies, while presenting some recommendations to legalize dealing with digital currencies.
