Abstract:
The current research aims to identify the possibility of predicting latent delinquency behaviors through school refusal and alexithymia among middle school students who are victims of school bullying (typically developing students and integrated hearing-impaired students), and to identify the differences in their latent delinquency behaviors. To achieve this, the research was conducted on a sample of (231) male and female students who are victims of school bullying in middle school, with chronological ages ranging between (12–17) years, a mean of (15.55) years, and a standard deviation of (1.353). After applying the School Refusal Scale prepared by Kearney (2006), and the scales of alexithymia, latent delinquency behaviors, and school bullying victims prepared by the researchers, the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of typically developing students and hearing-impaired students in the School Refusal Scale and its sub-dimensions, as well as the total score of the scale. However, there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the dimension of positive reinforcements outside school in favor of integrated hearing-impaired students. The results also revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of typically developing middle school students and integrated hearing-impaired students in the sub-dimensions and total score of the alexithymia scale in favor of integrated hearing-impaired students, as well as statistically significant differences between the mean scores of typically developing middle school students and integrated hearing-impaired students in the sub-dimensions and total score of the latent delinquency behaviors scale in favor of integrated hearing-impaired students. Additionally, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between school refusal (sub-dimensions and total score) and the latent delinquency scale, and a statistically significant positive correlation between school refusal (sub-dimensions and total score) and the alexithymia scale (sub-dimensions and total score). Furthermore, the results indicated that latent delinquency behaviors can be predicted through both school refusal and alexithymia among middle school students who are victims of school bullying (typically developing students and integrated hearing-impaired students).
