Abstract:
The current study aims to explore the structural model of the relationship between emotional sensitivity, social anxiety, and feelings of psychological loneliness among deaf adolescents. Our study seeks to identify the reciprocal effects between these variables and to determine the optimal structural model that explains both direct and indirect influences among them. To achieve this objective, the study was conducted on a sample of 150 deaf high school students, aged between 17 and 20 years, with a mean age of 18.7 years and a standard deviation of 1.046. After applying the Emotional Sensitivity Scale, Social Anxiety Scale, and Psychological Loneliness Scale, and using the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach with Amos software, the results revealed a statistically significant positive correlation (at the 0.01 level) between the dimensions of emotional sensitivity and the overall score on the Psychological Loneliness Scale. Additionally, a statistically significant positive correlation (at the 0.01 level) was found between the dimensions of emotional sensitivity and the overall score on the Social Anxiety Scale, as well as between the dimensions of social anxiety and the overall score on the Psychological Loneliness Scale. The study concluded with a structural model that illustrates the influence pathways and relationships between emotional sensitivity, social anxiety, and psychological loneliness among deaf adolescents.
