The present research aimed to identify the relationship between the six factors of personality HEXACO and Academic self-handicapping among (high\ low) self-esteem and identify the differences between (high\ low) self-esteem in HEXACO and Academic self-handicapping, and also to identify the path of the relationship between HEXACO, academic self-handicapping and self-esteem among university students. The basic research sample consisted of (1238) students from Zagazig university students, and the research tools were scale six factors of personality HEXACO (Ashton & Lee, 2009), academic self-handicapping scale (the researcher's preparation) and self-esteem scale (Hudson, 1994), and Using correlation coefficients, (T) test and path analysis, The results of the research found there is differences with statistically significant (at 0.01 level) between the averages of the scores of both high and those who have low self-esteem in the six factors of personality (HEXACO) in favor of the high self-esteem, and there is differences between the averages of the scores of both high and those who have low self-esteem in academic self-handicapping in favor of the low self-esteem . And there is a negative correlation between factors of personality (Honesty, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness to experience) and the total degree of academic self-handicapping in (high\ low) self-esteem. There is a negative direct and statistically significant effect at the level (0.01) of six factors dimensions (Conscientiousness and Openness to experience) on self-handicapping, and positive direct (emotionality) on self-handicapping , and positive direct (Extraversion and Conscientiousness) on self-esteem, and negative direct of self-esteem on self-handicapping.
