Sports represent an essential part of modern societies; however, they have become a field where numerous crimes are committed that threaten their integrity and the safety of those involved. These crimes range from physical violence on the playing fields and match-fixing to doping, as well as financial crimes such as money laundering and tax evasion. This research aims to study the criminal liability for these crimes and clarify the legal foundations. The importance of the research lies in shedding light on the legal framework for combating sports crimes, which enhances integrity within the sports field. It also aims to clarify the relationship between sports laws and general legislations, and determine appropriate penalties for various violations, contributing to the development of stricter legal policies to reduce sports crimes. The problem addressed by this research is the adequacy of current sports laws and criminal legislations in confronting sports crimes, the effectiveness of the penalties imposed on offenders, and the role of sports institutions in promoting legal compliance. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, reviewing and analyzing sports laws and criminal legislations, along with studying the application of criminal liability in sports crimes. The comparative method is also used to compare related local and international legislations. The study concluded that there is a discrepancy in addressing sports crimes between sports laws and general laws, leading to legal gaps exploited by some. It also found that penalties for financial crimes in sports are not deterrent enough. The research recommends the development of sports legislations to include stricter penalties, increased financial monitoring of sports clubs, and enhanced legal awareness among athletes and administrators to reduce sports crimes.
