Abstract: |
This research aims to explore the role of imagination as a creative starting point for enriching the three-dimensional print. Imagination is an essential element in the creative process and an expressive tool that enables the artist to reshape reality and add a creative touch to artistic compositions that reflect dreamy visions. The research relies on philosophical, artistic, technical, and aesthetic approaches to employ imagination, dreams, and their formative elements to enrich printmaking. It also presents a practical vision through an analysis of a group of artworks inspired by dreams and imagination by artists from various artistic schools, such as Romanticism, Surrealism, Symbolism, and Expressionism.
The research addresses how to employ hand-printing techniques, such as stencils, prints, batik, and heat-blocking, to embody dream elements such as butterflies, roses, wings, horses, and swings in formative formulations with aesthetic visual dimensions (linearity, texture, color). This is achieved by embodying the printed surface with materials that possess expressive connotations as a means of expressing the beautiful dream, feelings, ideas, and aspirations for the best. With the development of modern art trends, imagination has become a fundamental starting point for creativity, granting the artist the ability to explore new worlds that are different from reality and express their visions and ideas in a variety of ways.
