Abstract:
The results of studies regarding the effect of statin on psoriasis are con-tradictory. The studies recommended addition of statin to the treatmentof psoriasis, suggested that statins have anti-inflammatory effectthrough inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necro-sis factor-alpha, interleukin-1 and -6, and stimulation of shifting fromTh1 to Th2 cells beside its lipid lowering effect that reduces the meta-bolic complications associated with psoriasis .1 On the other hand, themechanism by which statins exacerbate psoriasis is still unclear, statin activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3)was suggested as a leading factor for psoriasis exacerbation
