Abstract:
This study examines the seismic response of offshore wind turbine monopiles using Plaxis-3D software, analyzing various configurations under static and seismic loads, including earthquakes such as Northridge (1994) and Chi-Chi (1999). Results indicate that the maximum displacements occur at the top of the monopile, and winged monopiles (2.8m diameter) exhibit similar behavior to standard monopiles (4.0m diameter) but with reduced material costs. The research underscores the significance of soil-structure interaction and earthquake characteristics in monopile design.
