Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of motivational strategies in developing reading comprehension skills of second year mechanical department students at the Faculty of Engineering. The sample of the study consisted of 50 students randomly distributed to two groups, an experimental group and a control one, each included 25 students. Results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in their performance in the pre and post application of the two tests: reading comprehension test and cloze test favoring the post application. Results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and control group in their performance in the post application of the two tests: reading comprehension test and cloze test favoring the experimental group
