Universities face many challenges and competitive pressures surrounding them due to the rapid changes in the educational and technological environment; which requires universities to radically change the current educational services and programs with innovative services and programs that are compatible with the changes in the educational and technological environment and are in line with the changing requirements of the labor market, by adding and developing new and innovative features to the educational programs and services provided by the university in a way that achieves the requirements, expectations and needs of beneficiaries and ensures that the university maintains a distinguished strategic competitive position among other universities in light of the intense competition. Here, the importance of the need to manage strategic innovation emerges to maintain a balance between creativity and the stability of the university’s organizational environment, which generates strategic innovation, new innovative ideas and knowledge become a reality that can be applied and benefited from. In the context of this research, Strategic innovation management for universities is defined as: an administrative approach based on a set of integrated practices carried out by the university administration in order to optimally invest the resources and dynamic and technological capabilities available at the university through new proactive strategies and methods that enable it to generate creative ideas, absorb them and invest them to develop its services and programs and present them in an innovative way to increase its chances of survival and continuity to confront the continuous and successive changes in the external environment and respond to them successfully in a way that ensures the university maintains its sustainable competitive advantage. The research was limited to a number of areas of strategic innovation management practices that help universities implement them, which are: the area of the university’s absorptive capacity, the area of the university’s proactive direction, and the area of university leadership support. So, this research aimed to introduce a suggested proposal to Develope the practices of strategic innovation management in Egyptian universities. The research has depended on the descriptive method. The opinions of some education experts were surveyed regarding the suggested proposal to Develope the practices of strategic innovation management in Egyptian universities. A final copy of the suggested proposal was developed after applying the experts’ suggestions. The suggested proposal included four pivots: the theoretical and local premises for the proposal, the components of the suggested proposal, the requirements for its implementation, the difficulties of its implementation and the ways to overcome them.
