                         hecurrentfeedingstudywasdesignedtoinvestigatetheinfluenceofnaringenindietarysupplementationongrowthperformance,carcasstraits,bloodbiochemistry,immunity,antiox-idantresponses,andthececalmicrobiotaofgrowingJapanesequails.Twohundred1-wk-oldJapanesequailswithanaveragebodyweightof28.02§0.10gwererandomlyclusteredinto5groupswith5replicateseach(n=40chicks/treatments&8chicks/replicate).Thefirstgroupwasreceivedthebasaldiet(BD)withoutnaringeninsupplementationandconsideredthecon-trolgroup.Whereas,thenaringenin-treatedgroupswerefedonBDsupplementedwithnarin-geninat0.50,1.00,1.50,and2.00g/kgdiet.Regardingtheantimicrobialactivityofnaringenin,theresultsdisplayedgrowthinhibitionzonesincreasedwithincreasinglevelsofnaringenin.Themainfindingsincludedsignificantlinearandquadraticincreasesinquail’sbodyweightandbodygainwithmarkedimprovementofFCR(P<0.05)withoutobviousalterationsincarcasstraits(P>0.05).Moreover,dietarytreatmentwithnaringenindistinctlyimprovedquail’shematologyandbiochemistrywithprominenthypolipidemiceffectsassuredbythesignificantloweringofcholesterol,TG,LDL,andVLDL.Thelevelsofsuperoxidedis-mutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),glutathioneperoxidase(GPx),reducedglutathione(GSH),immunoglobulins(IgA,IgM,andIgG),complement3,andlysozymewereincreasedwithnarin-geninsupplementation.Thepresenceofnaringenininquail’sdietsignificantlyreducedthepres-enceofdifferentmicrobialpopulationsinthececumofgrowingquails.Netprofitandeconomic efficiencywereimprovedwithnaringeninsupplementationwhencomparedtocontrol.There-
fore,naringenincouldbeeffectivelyincludedinquail’snutritionasapromisingfeedadditiveto
improvequail’shealthandoverallperformance.
