Abstract:
This study utilizes remote sensing (RS), geographic information systems (GIS), watershed modeling system (WMS), geophysical surveys, and water mass balance equations to identify suitable groundwater exploitation areas in Wadi Dara, Eastern Desert, Egypt. A weighted spatial probability model (WSPM) based on eight regulatory factors was applied within ArcGIS software, using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to assign factor weights. The results were validated through geophysical surveys (VES and TEM), confirming that the most promising groundwater areas are located in the central and western parts of Wadi Dara. The study recommended drilling ten additional wells for sustainable groundwater development. This research demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating multiple techniques in accurately determining development strategies for arid and semi-arid regions facing rainfall scarcity and increasing agricultural reclamation needs.
