Abstract:
We have investigated how hypoxia combined with thermal stress affected a model fish’s blood physiology, erythrocytic abnormalities and thermal tolerance. The findings of the present investigation suggest patterns of climate change’s impact on the physiology and general well- being of aquatic organisms by inducing stress. Furthermore, our findings also demonstrate that fish with lower tolerance of hypoxia may be more susceptible to climate change impact in the near future. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the climate-induced hypoxia and thermal tolerance is not tested in this study. Hence, it is essential to pay more attention towards temperature and oxygen variations for effective management and conservation practices in open waters. More research is needed to comprehend the ability of fish to grow, reproduce and swim at CTmax.
