Abstract:
The present research is concerned with the reflection phenomenon of plane waves in an orthotropic micropolar thermoelastic medium with diffusion and two-temperature. The governing equations of the present investigation are formulated in the context of dual-phase lag theory. The plane wave solutions of the governing equations imply the emergence of five plane waves, namely quasi longitudinal displacement wave, quasi thermal wave, quasi mass diffusion wave, quasi transverse micro-rotational wave and quasi transverse displacement wave. Using the relevant boundary conditions, the amplitude ratios and energy ratios for various reflected waves are calculated. The phase speeds, reflection coefficients and energy ratios are computed numerically with the help of MATLAB programming and are depicted graphically to show the effect of diffusion parameter and anisotropy. It is found that there is no dissipation of energy at the boundary surface during reflection. On the other hand, some attempts have also been made to explore the three-dimensional responses of the thermoelastic medium. Some particular cases of interest have been inferred from the present problem.
