Abstract:
Biostimulants are gaining more announcements as being ecofriendly as well as providing safe and nutritious food. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of two biostimulants (Spirulina platensis and Trifolium alexandrinum) on the nutritional values of pea (Pisum sativum L.) grains. Four treatments were evaluated in this experiment including control (no amendments), soil treated with 10 g of Spirulina powder, 10 g of Trifolium powder and with the combination of the two powders. The results show that almost all the contents of the studied nutrients including macro and microelements, carbohydrates, total nitrogen, total proteins, vitamin C, and unsaturated fatty acids were significantly increased by the application of the two biostimulants either individually or in combination. The highest content of the nutrients was observed in correspondence with the combined treatment. However, saturated fatty acids were decreased after biostimulant application. The nutritional value of pea grains can be potentially improved by biostimulants.
