:** "A proposed program in Environmental Sciences2 based on the Social Scientific Issues (SSI) approach and its impact on developing productive thinking skills and awareness of social scientific issues among student teachers at the College of Education" The aim of the current research is to identify the impact of a proposed program in environmental sciences 2 based on the Social Scientific Issues (SSI) approach on developing productive thinking skills and awareness of social scientific issues among student teachers at the College of Education, To achieve this goal, the two researchers prepared (the program based on the SSI Social Issues Entrance - Productive Thinking Skills Test - Social Scientific Issues Awareness Scale, The study sample was selected, which was represented by the third year students (Physics - Chemistry) at the Faculty of Education, Zagazig University. The current research found that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the pre and post applications of the productive thinking test As a whole and in its sub-dimensions in favor of the dimensional application, as is evident by the large size and strength of the effect, which indicates the effectiveness of teaching the two units selected from the proposed program prepared in the light of the Social Scientific Issues (SSI) approach in developing productive thinking skills for students of the third year, the specific research sample, The current research also found that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the pre and post applications of the scale of awareness of social scientific issues as a whole and in its sub-dimensions in favor of the post application, Which indicates the effectiveness of teaching the two units selected from the proposed program prepared in the light of the Social Scientific Issues (SSI) in developing productive thinking skills and awareness of social scientific issues among students of the third year, the specific research sample. The research also found a positive and significant correlation between the scores of the experimental group students in the productive thinking test and their scores in the scale of awareness of social scientific issues In light of the results of the current research, the two researchers recommended paying attention to education based on social scientific issues, as it aims to develop students' awareness of facing these issues, solving the problems associated with them, developing productive thinking as well, coexisting with life and its requirements, and facing its daily challenges in light of the changes and developments of the current era and its issues. key words: - the Social Scientific Issues (SSI) approach awareness of social scientific issues . productive thinking skills
