Abstract:
The research aimed to identifying the attitudes of teaching staff and hearing students and their differences towards integrating deaf students into higher education. As well as identifying the extent to which the degree of these trends varies according to the difference in the variables of gender and university. identifying the most important obstacles that limiting the activation of the integration system for deaf students in higher education, and to come up with a proposed vision of the mechanisms of activating it from the point of view of the members of the research sample, The sample consisted of (385) hearing-members of the university community, including (90) members of the teaching staff, and (295) undergraduate students at the faculties of specific education in the Egyptian universities (Cairo, Zagazig, Menofia, and Fayoum). The study tools adopted a scale of the attitudes of the teaching staff and hearing students towards deaf student integration into university education, (prepared by the researcher), and the comparative descriptive methodology due to its suitability for the study hypotheses. The study concluded with the following: There is a positive trend for each of the teaching staff and hearing students towards integrating deaf students into higher education. The results also revealed that there are differences between the mean scores of each of the teaching staff and hearing students at the level (0.01) in the trend towards ways of communicating with deaf students. And the trend towards preparing the university environment to accept the deaf students and the total score of the scale in favor of the faculty members, and in favor of the hearing students in the direction towards the culture of the deaf students, and the trend towards the abilities/potentials of the deaf students. Also, there were differences between the mean scores of teaching staff at the level (0.01) due to the gender variable in favor of females, and due to the university variable in favor of the universities of Zagazig and Fayoum compared to the universities of Cairo and Menoufia. The differences between the attitudes of hearing students varied in the attitude towards the culture of deaf students in favor of males, and in favor of females in the attitude towards the characteristics of deaf students, the attitude towards ways of communicating with deaf students, and the total score of the scale. It also found some obstacles that limit the activation of the application of the integration system for deaf students in higher education, and a proposed conception of the mechanisms of its activation was reached from the point of view of the members of the research sample, and the researcher reached a set of important recommendations.
