For Peer Review Uncinate process description: a computed tomography cross section study Journal: International Archives of Otorhinolaryngology Manuscript ID IAORL-2024-05-1770-OR Manuscript Type: Original Research Keywords: nose, CT, endoscopic sinus surgery, middle meatus Abstract: Introduction: The uncinate process (UP) is the most important and constant landmark in the osteomeatal complex and the middle meatus. Objective: to find out the variation and categorization of the uncinate process (UP) sinus using computed tomography (CT) that were not antecedently published. Methods: This study was carried on 110 paranasal CT scans (220 sides) were enclosed in the current study. Axial images were acquired with multiplanar reformates to get delicate details in other planes. Results: within 120 CTs (220 sides), The UP was found to be type 1 in 84.5%, type 2 in 12.3%, type 3 in 3.2% without significant deference between genders. The UP was found to be medialized in 81.9%, vertical in 16.3%, lateralized in 0.9%, and absent in 0.9% without significant difference between both gender. 8.63% of the UP was pneumatized. Conclusion: This study improves surgeons' and radiologists awareness of UP building up a standard classifications and description to be used as a common language between otorhinolaryngologists and radiologists an
