Abstract:
Date palm fruit (Phoenix dactylifera L.) can be used as a pharmaceutical product because of its rich phytochemical composition. Mobile phone radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that has been confirmed to exert several adverse effects on living tissues. Methods: In this study, we investigated the phytochemicals of the Egyptian date palm fruit using ultra-performance liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization quadrupole- linear ion trap tandem mass spectrometry analysis (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS) in negative and positive ionization modes. Adult male Wister albino rats were exposed to mobile phone induced electromagnetic radiations (EMR) for 1 hour per day for 4 weeks. We evaluated the possible cytoprotective effects of date palm fruits compared with vitamin C on mobile phone induced EMR. Rats were divided into the control, EMR, and two EMR groups treated with either vitamin C or date palm fruit.
