The continuous increase in technological development, utilization, and organization poses a significant challenge in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), also known as Industry 4.0. Consequently, the need to invest in human capital to keep pace with these technological advancements has become increasingly important. Therefore, the study aimed to explore the relationship between the level of human capital accumulation and the adoption of 4IR, using Threshold Regression Analysis and considering factors such as current levels of education, healthcare, technological innovation, and anticipated changes in the labor market. The results revealed a positive impact of human capital accumulation on 4IR adoption, as evidenced by the network readiness and economic complexity of the countries under study. However, the strength of this relationship varied based on the level of human capital accumulation (threshold level), ranging from 3.19 to 3.22 for economic complexity and network readiness, respectively. By comparing this threshold with the cumulative human capital level in Egypt until 2020, which stood at 2.707, it became apparent that the minimum requirement for accommodating Fourth Industrial Revolution applications slightly exceeded the level of human capital accumulation in Egypt. These findings indicate the necessity of investing in human capital to accommodate 4IR, and policymakers and business leaders should prioritize investments in education, training, and healthcare to achieve optimal results and prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
