Actinomycetes are filamentous gram-positive bacteria, which primarily inhabit the soil. Among actinomycetes, the genus Streptomyces has long been recognized as a rich source of useful secondary metabolites and is the origin of many valuable antibiotics. The emergence of microbial resistance to various antimicrobial agents is increasing. Therefore, the discovery of new natural antimicrobial agents with high safety profiles and efficiency against both bacterial and fungal pathogens is very important. The current study aims to characterize the antimicrobial potential of actinomycestes isolated from soil.
