The university is one of the educational institutions that occupies the top of the educational system, and the main pillar of the progress of society and catch up with the developed countries, so its reform and development is one of the most important priorities and a necessity, and institutional governance in universities is one of the most important methods of administrative reform in its modern sense, which universities use to reform higher education; It aims to improve the quality of its services, and the interest in adopting institutional governance in universities has increased after the development of accredited educational systems, and the development of international university classification standards.
Institutional governance is very important for universities to create a more transparent and accountable management model in compliance with applicable regulations, improve the quality of university management leading to more systematic implementation of programs in accordance with the defined vision and mission, encourage academic quality, and make universities accountable to internal and external stakeholders, University institutional governance is an attempt to create a better university administration, and the application of university institutional governance encourages the creation of transparency, accountability, independence, efficiency and justice.
The Egyptian universities tended to achieve quality and excellence in performance through the application of institutional governance as a main determinant of the quality of education, and despite the efforts and attempts made to activate institutional governance in Egyptian universities, these efforts did not achieve the desired results.
The study sought to answer a main question: How can institutional governance be activated in Egyptian universities in light of some foreign experiences?
The study relied on the comparative approach with the entrance of forces and cultural factors.
The current study aimed to: Activate institutional governance in Egyptian universities in the light of some foreign experiences.
The study was limited to the experiences of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and the University of Canberra, Australia; Due to the distinguished experience of the two universities in this field.
At the end of the study, a set of proposed procedures was reached, which could contribute to activating institutional governance in Egyptian universities in the light of the theoretical framework, as well as the experiences of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Canberra, Australia.
