university, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, during two growing seasons of 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 to study the effect of nitrogen fertilization and planting distances on the three varieties of Canola growth, yield, yield components and quality. In addition, the correlation between the studied measurements was calculated. The four nitrogen levels i.e., zero (control), 40, 60 and 80 Kg. N / fad., with the three planting distances (5, 10 and 15 cm), three Canola varieties i.e., Serw 4, Serw 6 and Pactol. Experimental design was the split-split plot with three replicates in two seasons of study. The main plot were allocated by the three varieties Canola and sub-plots were randomly assigned to the three planting distances (5, 10 and15 cm) the sub-sub plots were randomly assigned to four N-levels (0, 40, 60 and 80 Kg. N / fad..The main results and effects could be summarized as follows:
Varieties of differences:
Canola varieties indicated highly significant and significant differences in most of all measurements studied which could be summarized as follow.
Pactol variety achieved the highest value of all growth characters stages of the two seasons and the combined. The differences are high significant of the combined stage i.e., plant height (cm) (44.85, 45.838 and 51.188), number of leaves (6.978, 8.854 and 10.804), leaf area (1371.9, 1725.2 and 1790.5), leaf area index (3.489, 4.513 and 4.654) and dry weight/plant (g.) (8.514, 10.127 and 11.003) respectively.
Also, Pactol gave same trend for most measurements of yield and yield attributes recorded the highest No. of branches (23.024), No. of pods / plant (145.689), No. of seeds / pod (26.168), seed weight / plant (g.), (10.912), 1000 seed weight (g.), (3.088), seed yield (ton / fad.), (1.970), straw yield (ton / fad.), (325.769), biological yield (ton / fad.), (327.74), protein (%) (27.973) and oil (%) (43.599).
The difference in plant height character could not reach the level of significance.
Effect of the main significant interactions between the studied factors showed that the highest seed yield (ton / fad.), of 3.229 was achieved by planting density 15 (cm) was applied.
In addition, the highest straw yield (ton / fad.), was achieved by applied of planting density (15 cm) with Pactol variety (506.7).
