Background: Umbilical cord blood banking and donation has been an option for marriage couple for the past quarter century, however an understanding of knowledge and awareness of these options and consistency of information provided to newly marriage couples remains low. Aim of the present study was to evaluate effect of educational intervention about umbilical cord banking and stem cells on newly marriage couple's knowledge and attitude. Design: Quasi- experimental research design was adopted to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: The study was conducted at ANC unite at Zagazig university hospital. Tools of data collection: three tools were used for this study (1) Structured interviewing questionnaire, 2) Attitude assessment questionnaire, 3) Education pamphlet. Results: The present study results revealed a statistically significant improvement of knowledge and attitude regarding umbilical cord stem cell banking after implantation of the study intervention. As well as positive correlation between married couple's total score of knowledge and the total score of attitudes. Conclusion: After Application of the study intervention a significant improvement among studied couples concerning the knowledge and attitude regarding umbilical cord stem cell banking in the post-intervention compared to pre-intervention. Recommendations: Educational guideline about umbilical cord blood stem cell collection and banking must apart of premarital counseling program for those who are about to marry
