Abstract:
Learning disabilities are some of the main reason for school failure، in addition to that they lead to many incompatible behaviors، and pupils with learning disabilities suffer from weak map reading skills، but they can be taught map reading skills using a strategy، and one of these strategies is the strategy of differentiated education، so the current study aims to develop map reading skills among fifth grade pupils with learning disabilities ، by using a program based on the strategy of differentiated education. To achieve this goal the experimental method was used and the study sample consisted of (12) pupils divided into (2) groups, experimental and control. Each of them consisted of (6) pupils. The researcher used the Stanford-Binet scale to measure intelligence. (The fifth edition), the rapid neurological survey scale (prepared by: Abdel-Wahhab Kamel (2007)), the battery of the diagnostic assessment scale for reading difficulties (prepared by Fathi Al-Zayyat (2015)), the scale of map reading skills for pupils with learning disabilities (prepared by Reda Al-Husseini and Noura Mahmoud), and the remedial education program based on the differentiated education strategy. The study resulted in the effectiveness of the program used in developing map reading skills among the pupils of the experimental group and also the continued effectiveness of the program after the follow-up period. The study highlights the importance of differentiated education strategy and the impact of training on it in developing and improving the map reading skills among fifth grade pupils with learning disabilities.
