Abstract:
Reading difficulties are one of the most prevalent topics among children with learning disabilities, and therefore the current study aimed to develop English reading skills for fifth-grade pupils with learning disabilities through a computer-based treatment program. The participants of the study were (14) pupils with difficulties in learning to read, who were equally divided into an experimental and a control group. The researcher used the Stanford-Binet Children's Intelligence Scale, the fifth picture, the Diagnostic Assessment Scale for Learning Difficulties for Fathi Al-Zayat (2007), the Rapid Neurological Sorting Test, Arabization of Abdel-Wahab Kamel (2007), the English Reading Skills Scale (prepared by / Muhammad Hassan, Reda Al-Husseini, Eman Bahaa ), a remedial education program based on the use of the computer (prepared by / Muhammad Hassan, Reda Al-Husseini, Eman Bahaa), and the results of data analysis showed the effectiveness of the program used in developing reading skills in English for the experimental group, as well as the continuation of the program’s effectiveness after follow-up. The researcher recommends the necessity of paying attention to programs designed to improve students' level of English language.
