Obstetric Outcome after Threatened Abortion and Women Awareness Pertaining to the Various Options for Its Management

Abstract:
Abstract: Threatened abortion in first trimester is a risk factor for complications in the latter half of pregnancy and its prevention and management it mandatory. The Aim of this study was to determine obstetric outcome after threatened abortion, assess the women awareness pertaining to the various options for its management, and conduct nursing guidelines for vulnerable women. Subjects &Methods: Prospective and descriptive design was adopted in this study, and was done on 130 pregnant woman with threatened abortion in the first trimester. Analysis of the data was done using SPSS version 20. Results: The present study findings revealed that regarding the obstetric outcome of 130 woman with threatened abortion, that 50 (38.5%) woman were exposed to different kinds of abortion and 80 (61.5%) woman continued the pregnancy until delivery. The findings also demonstrated that women who had unsatisfactory knowledge were less likely to continue the pregnancy until delivery compared to those who had satisfactory knowledge and the difference observed is statistically significant (<0.001), and more likely to have CS compared to those who had satisfactory knowledge (78.9 % vs. 57.1 % respectively). Conclusions: Pregnant women with first trimester threatened abortion are at increased risk for spontaneous loss and adverse pregnancy outcome. Recommendations: Knowledge of these risks may help the obstetricians to manage these cases vigorously in the antepartum period and do timely interventions as needed for a healthy mother and baby.
