The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of excessive electronic media exposure in developing sleep disorders and behavior problems among preschool children. Subjects and Methods: A prospective descriptive research design was used to conduct the present study where 160 mothers of preschool children were selected by using a multistage cluster sampling technique attending four governmental nursery schools in Zagazig city. Data were collected by using an interview questionnaire sheet composed of four parts: socio-demographic data, electronic media exposure questionnaire, sleep disturbance scale for children in preschool age, and strengths and difficulties questionnaire. Results: The study results revealed that 96.7% of children who exposed to media for more than 4 hours daily have high sleep disorders at second measurement compared to first one. Regarding strengths and difficulties questionnaire, the study results revealed that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between hours of child exposure to media and negative strengths and difficulties questionnaire. Conclusion: The study concluded that increasing hours of daily exposure to media associated with high levels of sleep disorders and behavior problems among preschool children. Recommendations: It is recommended that health education programs for caregivers about the negative effects of excessive exposure to electronic media on sleep and behaviors among preschool children.
