Abstract:
The study Title : " The Effectiveness of Using some Metacognitive Strategies in Developing Critical Reading Skills and their Attitudes among the Faculty of Specific Educations Students " Prepared by : Rofida Mohamed Abd el rahman Abd el kader Master – faculty of Specific Education - Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences – 2021 Supervisors : The aim of this research is to develop critical reading skills among students of the Faculty of Education through the use of some metacognitive strategies. A descriptive approach was used to analyze the cognitive aspect, and an experimental approach was used to design a quasi-experimental study. The study included a sample of 60 second-year students specializing in classroom and community education, who were divided into two experimental groups. The first group used the think-aloud strategy, while the second group used the comprehension monitoring strategy. Data was collected using a test to assess critical reading skills and a scale to measure attitudes towards critical reading. Appropriate statistical processing methods were applied to analyze the data, and the results showed the effectiveness of using the think-aloud and comprehension monitoring strategies in improving critical reading skills and increasing attitudes towards critical reading among students of the Faculty of Education.
