Abstract:
The current study aimed to improve the verbal fluency of stuttering children through a training program using phonological processing, as well as to verify the continuity of the effectiveness of the training program. The study sample consisted of (12) stuttering children, their ages ranged between (6-9) years. The children were divided into two groups and experimental groups, each group consisting of (6) children. The researcher used the experimental method, and the colored progressive matrices test was applied by John Raven (Regulation / Imad Hassan, 2016), and the stuttering intensity scale (prepared by / Nahla Al-Rifai, 2001), and the verbal fluency scale for stuttering children (prepared by / Mohamed Abdel-Moamen, Saeed Abdel-Rahman, Samar Mohamed). The results of the study concluded: there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups of stuttering children on the verbal fluency scale after applying the program in favor of the experimental group. There are also statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group before and after applying the program in favor of the post-measurement, and there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the post and follow-up measurements, which indicates the effectiveness of the training program using phonological processing. The importance of a training program using phonological processing and its positive impact on improving verbal fluency for stuttering children.
