The provision of food. especially animal protein. is one of the most important obstacles facing the Egyptian economy in light of the current population increase and thespread ofdiseases affecting livestock and poultry. Fish production is one of the most important sources of animal protein. which indirectly contributes to solving the food gap problem. The study aims at identifying the current status of fish production in Egypt with reference to Lake Bardawil. factors influencing fish production in the lake. fish production costs in the sample. profitability indicators and measures of economic efficiency of fish production in the lake. fishing effort and seasonal fish production. Programs and proposals for their development and development. To achieve the objectives of the study. the study was based on two types of analysis: descriptive statistical analysis to determine the problem of the study and quantitative statistical analysis to determine the economic variables. The study also relied on secondary data published and unpublished by the issuing bodies. The current status of fish production in North Sinai Governorate during the period 2000-2017 shows that fish production from the Mediterranean reached an average of about 2028.66 tons. The amount of fish caught from Lake Bardawil averaged 3855.94 tons. The application of the surplus production model (Schaefer) on Bardawil Lake in Egypt during the period (2000-2017) showed that the maximum sustainable production (MSY) was about 58 tons per year and the number of fishing units leading to this production was about 134 fishing units. And a study of the monthly seasonal total fish production in Lake Bardawil during the period (2000-2017). The monthly percentage of total fish production is higher than the average in May. June. October and November. and decreases in the rest of the month. The monthly seasonal index ranged between a minimum of 10.94% in January and a maximum of 221.81 During the month of May. the seasonal coefficient reached 20.28%. The most seasonal varieties were shrimp. crab. lute. grouper. seabream. seabass. mousse. and other fish. respectively. and boron family fish were the least susceptible to seasonal fluctuations. The study recommends the need to reduce the production of fish from Lake Bardawil according to the Shafer model to determine the fishing effort by reducing the number of boats to about 132 compounds. which gives the production of 58 tons. taking into account the provision of employment opportunities for fishermen who rely entirely on fishing Lake as a source of livelihood for them.
