Abstract:
Meleiha-NE oil field, located in Meleiha concession, 6 km northeast of Meleiha Field and 60 km south of Matruh Town. Bahariya Formation is the main producing horizon in Meleiha Concession. The aim of this work is to delineate the detailed structural features affecting Bahariya section of Meleiha-NE oil field using the available seismic reflection data and to determine the different reservoir parameters characterizing the pay zone utilizing well log data. In addition, the core data of the studied pay zone are analyzed utilizing several statistical methods and coordinating with the different log parameters. Finally, the reservoir characteristics are analyzed using 3-D modeling. The available seismic data are represented by Thirty-four 3-D seismic sections. Logging data of wells and core analysis results of Bahariya Formation in three wells are used for evaluating the petrophysical parameters and hydrocarbon potentialities. From seismic analysis, only one normal fault is deduced. It has WNW-ESE trend with several minor syn-forms and anti-forms in series on each side of the fault around the fault plane. The axes of these forms lie perpendicular to the strike of the fault with which they are associated. These structural features constitute the main structural traps characterizing the Bahariya Formation. The petrophysical parameters reveal that the center of the northwestern part of the area is the most favorable part for oil accumulation and production. The effective porosity, hydrocarbon saturation and movable hydrocarbon parameters concentrate generally, in the southeastern and northwestern parts. In general, they take northwest-southeast trend, on the up-throw and take the same trend of the normal fault, which passes through the area. The interpretation of core analysis involves the construction of porosity and permeability histograms, relations and statistical analysis of Baharyia reservoir. They indicate that the Bahariya Formation is considered by high quality reservoir. A good relation between well log and core analyses ensures the accuracy of the results of reservoir parameters evaluation.
