Abstract:
The current study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between fear of missing out and psychological well-being among university students, and to reveal the existence of differences between genders (males, females) and academic specialization (scientific, literary) and the interaction between them on fear of missing out and psychological well-being, and to identify the dimensions of fear of missing out predictive of psychological well-being among university students, and knowing of personality dynamics and subconscious psychological factors characteristic of high fear of missing Out among university students, and to achieve this goal; the study tools were applied to a sample of (625) university students divided into (307) males and (318) females with an average age of (19.99) years and standard deviation of (1,228). The study used the following tools: the measure of fear of missing Out (Prepared by: Researcher), the measure of psychological well-being (Prepared by: Shend., et,al), the case history form (Prepared by: Hassan Abdel Moaty, 1998), and the Thematic Apperception Test for adults (T.A. T), and the data was analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, and the most important results of the study found that there is a negative correlation statistically significant at the level of (0.01) and (0.05) between the degrees of dimensions of fear of missing out and the degrees of dimensions of psychological well-being and the total degree among the total sample of university students, and also resulted in the existence of statistically significant differences at the level of 0.01 between males and females in all dimensions of fear of missing out and the overall degree of it and the differences were in favor of males except for The absence of statistically significant differences in the dimension of fear of missing experience and expertise, the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of 0.01 and 0.05 attributed to the impact of specialization (scientific, literary) in all dimensions of the fear of missing out and its overall degree, and the differences were in favor of the literary department, and the presence of a common effect of both the interaction of the genre (male, female) and specialization (scientific, literary) in all dimensions of the fear of missing out and its overall degree in favor of literary males except for the absence of an effect Common to both gender interaction and specialization in the dimension of fear of losing experiences and experiences, as it showed the existence of statistically significant differences at the level of 0.01 and 0.05 between males and females in all dimensions of well-being and its total degree and the differences were in favor of males except for the absence of statistically significant differences in the dimension of positive relations with others, and the absence of statistically significant differences in the factor of specialization (scientific, literary) in all dimensions of psychological well-being Except after positive relationships with others, and the absence of a common effect of both gender (male, female) and specialization (scientific, literary) on all dimensions of psychological well-being and its overall degree, the results also indicated the predictability of the dimensions of psychological well-being from the fear of missing out and its dimensions, in addition to the high fear of missing out from university students with their own dynamic characteristics, and the results were interpreted and recommendations made in the light of the results of the study.
