The current study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between cognitive fusion and depressive disorder among university students, and to reveal the existence of differences between genders (males, females) and academic specialization (practical, theoretical) and the interaction between them on cognitive fusion and depressive disorder, and to identify the dimensions of cognitive fusion predictive of depression disorder among university students, and knowing of personality dynamics and unconscious psychological factors characteristic of high cognitive fusion and depressive disorder among university students, and to achieve this aim; the study tools were applied to a sample of (614) university students divided into (207) males and (407) females with an average age of (20,8) and standard deviation of (1.86). The study used the following tools: the cognitive fusion scale (prepared by: the researcher), the depression disorder scale (prepared by: the researcher), the case history form (prepared by: Hassan Abdel Moaty, 1998), and the Thematic Apperception Test for adults (T.A. T), and the data was analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, and the most important results of the study found that there is a positive correlation statistically significant at the (0,01) level between the total degree of cognitive fusion and the degrees of the dimensions of depressive disorder and its total degree among the total sample of university students, and also resulted that there were no statistically significant differences statistically significant differences between males and females in the level of cognitive fusion, while the results showed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) in the level of depression disorder between males and females in favor of females, and the results revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the practical and theoretical specialization and the interaction between gender and specialization in the level of cognitive fusion and depression disorder among university students, in addition to the distinctiveness of high cognitive fusion and depressive disorder among university students with their own dynamic characteristics. The results were interpreted and recommendations were made according to the results of the study.
