Risk of Fall and Functional Disability in Elderly with Chronic Low Back Pain at Zagazig University Hospitals

Abstract:
The aim was to assess the risk of fall and functional disability among elderly with chronic low back pain at Zagazig University Hospitals.Design: A cross sectional design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at outpatient clinics at Zagazig University Hospitals. Sample: A simple random sample of 135 elderly with chronic low back pain. Tools: : Three tools were used; 1) A structured interview questionnaire, II) Cannard Falls Risk Assessment scale, and III) Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire.Results: the study findings showed that both total risk of fall and functional disability demonstrated statistically significant relations with residence, illiteracy, living condition, chronic diseases, regular medication use and severe CLBP intensity. A statistically positive correlation was found between total risk of fall and total functional disability.
