Women's Satisfaction regarding Contraceptive Counseling during COVID-19 Pandemic in Zagazig city

Abstract:
Background: COVID-19 pandemic presents miscellaneous challenges to health systems globally including reproductive health, with an unequal influence on those that are the lowest resourced. Aim of the study: was to assess women satisfaction regarding contraceptive counseling during covid-19 pandemic in Zagazig city. Study design: Descriptive study. Setting: The study was conducted at two settings: El-Nahal maternal and child health center and second district maternal and child health center in Zagazig. Study subjects: A convenient sample of 290 women in the child bearing age was included in the study. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used; Structured interview questionnaire, and questionnaire of women satisfaction towards contraceptive counseling and women preferences. Results: less than one fourth of the health care providers establish and maintain rapport, work with the client interactively to select the most effective and appropriate contraceptive method, conduct physical assessment related to contraceptive use, when warranted, provide the contraceptive method along with instructions, while more than half of the health care providers obtain clinical and social information from the client Conclusion: nearly two thirds of the studied women reported that they were satisfied towards contraceptive counseling provided by nurses during covid 19 outbreak. While, more than one third of them were not satisfied. Recommendations: women satisfaction with contraceptive counseling during COVID-19 can be achieved through orienting providers towards being “attentive” to the clients and training nurses on how to receive the clients and to patiently provide them with sufficient counseling and information.
