Abstract
The current research mainly aims to reveal the nature of the relationship between the quality of care provided in institutions for the blind in its axes (the educational process - human dealings - the residential environment) and positive adaptation in its axes (self-acceptance and self-confidence - social integration - independence and responsibility) from the perspective of the blind teenager. The data were collected through the application of (general data form, questionnaire on the quality of care provided in institutions for the blind, a questionnaire of positive adaptation) on a deliberate sample of (98) blind teenagers at Al-Noor School for the Blind in Sharkia Governorate. And by following the descriptive analytical approach, tabulating the data and using appropriate statistical methods through the Spss21 program. The research reached the following results:
The level of quality of care provided in institutions for the blind is low at a rate of 52%. The level of positive adaptation among blind adolescents was average at a rate of 63.3%. The results also showed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the level of quality of care provided in institutions for the blind and its themes and the level of positive adaptation in its themes from the point of view of the blind teenager. It was found that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of blind adolescents, the research sample, in the awareness of the quality of care provided in institutions for the blind and its axes, according to gender, degree of visual impairment, age, period of joining the institution, mother's education, and family income. It was also found that there were differences between the mean scores of blind adolescents in positive adjustment in its axes, according to gender, mother's work, degree of disability, and duration of joining the institution.
Based on the results, the research recommended publishing the sessions of the proposed counseling program on the official pages of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and the Ministry of Social Solidarity, which contributes to improving the level of services provided to the blind in various institutions and increases the blind’s awareness of them and enhances their positive adaptation, as well as the interest of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity. Education by providing advanced educational means and tools in institutions for the blind, which contribute to improving the quality of the educational process provided to the blind in a way that achieves more positive adaptation. to a greater degree.
